Gumala Radio, which commenced broadcasting in 2002, is a fully-licensed community radio station transmitting to remote Indigenous communities in the north west of Western Australia. It sources many of its programs from other Aboriginal radio stations, including the PAKAM (Pilbara and Kimberley Aboriginal Media) network.

Gumala Radio is led by our famous broadcaster is John 'Tadam' Lockyer, who is affectionately known as 'The Voice of Gumala Radio'. Gumala Radio's studio is situated in Gumala's head office in Tom Price. Gumala Radio is currently broadcast to the following towns and communities: Tom Price, Paraburdoo, Onslow, Roebourne, Wakathuni Community, Bellary Springs Community and Youngaleena Community.

The key aims of Gumala Radio are to:

- Allow the use of Indigenous Language on Air (helping to preserve those languages)

- Use radio as a means of teaching those languages

- Allow local and Indigenous culture to be reflected in programming, particularly traditional stories and songs

- Provide the community with access to a wide variety of Indigenous programming from around the country

- Help communities throughout the region to stay in touch

- Provide a valuable means of distributing information on various matters such as Health and Education, Meetings and Festivals,Tourist attractions, and Weather warnings
