Nyiyaparli Directors
The Board of Directors, made up of 12 Traditional Owners (including 3 Elders), oversees the running of Gumala Aboriginal Corporation (GAC). Four Directors are elected to represent each of the three language groups: Banyjima, Innawonga and Nyiyaparli.

Keith HallChairman

Keith was born in Port Hedland and raised in Marble Bar. He currently resides in South Hedland and is married with three children. Keith is an active member of the Nyiyaparli Native Title Working Group, as well as Spokesperson and Advisory Committee Member to assist special administrators in the return of a newly improved Nyiyaparli corporation. He also carries out archaeological and ethnographical surveys on behalf of mining companies in the Pilbara.
Keith’s key aim as Chairman of the Board is to ensure that the Directors have a highly active participation in the operations, development and growth of Gumala and take a passionate, hands-on role in the organisation. Keith is confident that self-determination will be achieved through active participation of the Traditional Owners. He also wishes to ensure that Members and their families receive the best possible funding assistance to improve their lives and futures, including the vital areas of health and education. Keith is determined that the ‘new generation’ of younger Directors will build on the important achievements of previous Boards, ensuring that Gumala becomes the biggest and most successful and sustainable Aboriginal corporation in Australia.

Stephen PetersonSECRETARY

Born in Port Hedland and currently residing in Geraldton, Stephen is married with three children. He is also the current Director of Nyiyaparli Aboriginal Corporation and Nyiyapali Working Group. In his role on the GAC Board, Stephen aims to represent his people and provide them with positive outcomes that benefit their long term future.

Lisa CoffinDirector

Lisa was born in Port Hedland and spent most of her childhood in Marble Bar with her Grandmother and Great Grandmother. She was educated in Marble Bar, Perth and Broome. Lisa is the descendant of her Nyiyaparli Great Grandfather William Coffin, who was born and raised at Roy Hill Station.
Lisa is a strong young Nyiyaparli woman and mother who has experience and in-depth knowledge of the financial industry, housing and infrastructure gained from previous employment at Bank West and the Department of Housing. Lisa has been involved in Gumala since 1997 but didn’t become a formal member until she was 18 in 1999.
As well as her role on the GAC Board, she is employed at The Department of Treasury & Finance. In her role as a Nyiyaparli Director she aims to bridge the gap between non-Indigenous Australians and her Traditional Owners/Elders. Lisa is committed to supporting the enhancement of self-determination for the Nyiyaparli people and all Gumala members towards a sustainable and strong future.
