Gumala Aboriginal Corporation (GAC) is one of Australia’s largest indigenous development organizations. GAC seeks a dynamic, capable and driven individual to take responsibility for the success of the Education Program.
Led by a visionary team, GAC is aiming to expand its services and programs throughout Western Australia for the benefit of its members. Reporting to the Finance & Administration Manager, your role will be responsible for identifying and administrating education opportunities for the youth of Gumala Aboriginal Corporation. This will include liaising with reputable schools and colleges to assist Gumala Members and their families. To be considered for this role you will need to have the following competencies:
- Ability to communicate effectively at all levels
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Strong time management skills
- Strong record keeping skills
- Written and verbal proficiency
- Demonstrated ability to mentor effectively and motivate youth
- Advanced computer skills (including Ms Office, databases and management systems)
A degree in Secondary Education while not essential would be advantageous. The successful candidate should have worked at least 5 years+ in an educational environment (minimum). Excellent interpersonal skills are a must, and the ability to lead, motivate and develop our education program is essential. While it is not required that you have worked in an indigenous environment, a clear willingness to work and engage with indigenous people will be expected. This position is required to visit various remote areas on a regular basis.
An excellent remuneration package will be negotiated with the right candidate.

Work Start Programs
Gumala Aboriginal Corporation (GAC) and Ashburton Aboriginal Corporation (AAC) are excited to offer placements in the upcoming Work Start Programs. This opportunity is part of the Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) signed by both corporations.
This is an opportunity for all Gumala members to participate in an exciting program to gain the training, skills and certificates required to be offered full time employment. All participants enrolled will have the full support from mentors, trainers and co-coordinators from both corporations and our friendly staff are only happy to assist.
