The bus is also available to take Gumala’s Members and their families to Youngaleena, Port Hedland as well as to funerals and sporting events. The Gumala Bus Timetable is available on our Members Notices page.

community support

Gumala provides community support for each of our remote communities: Wakathuni, Bellary Springs, Youngaleena,Wirrilimarra and Peedamulla. This includes regular community visits, consultations with Elders and other community residents, assessments to ascertain works that are required, and the implementation of those works.

past projects

Gumala has successfully executed many community projects over recent years, as we strive to meet our Traditional Owners needs in our remote communities.

Recycling Project

Gumala’s Recycling Project was successfully implemented in the 2009-2010 financial year. Gumala delivered recycling trailers to four of our communities as part of our aim to provide more waste disposal facilities in these communities. The four trailers were delivered to Wakathuni, Bellary Springs, Youngaleena and Wirrilimarra.

Once each trailer is full, a volunteer residing in each of the communities drives it to Tom Price and empties it at the Shire of Ashburton’s recyclable waste collection facility. The volunteer then returns the trailer to the community to continue the recycling process.
